OPPOTUNITIES IN VIETNAM

The Next Big Thing - Wind Energy Market in Vietnam

The economic growth of Vietnam in recent years has led to the rapid increase in demand for energy. Total energy consumption over the past decade has grown by about 10 to 15 percent annually, twice as much as the GDP growth.

Vietnam has abundant natural resources for renewable energy, with government policies support, 8 projects with 303MW has been installed including one on Phu Quy island. 4800MW have been approved in master plan and another 7400MW is proposing for approval in master plan including location in Quang Tri, Bac Lieu and Ben Tre, etc. The water depth between 20m and 50m in offshore and near shore give great opportunities to global players to join the booming wind development in Vietnam.

Considering Vietnam had lots of experience in offshore oil & gas, it is easier to acquire and develop its competences in offshore engineering and supply chain, creating more local contents and jobs to diversify the whole industry.
